It's great to get people thinking about their finances, especially for people like me who are in their early 20s and still figuring this sort of thing out.

I'm nearly six months into my first full-time job and am making better money than I ever did, but I still don't quite know how to...deal with it. And I still tend to shop like I'm a broke college student (aka clearance racks and Winco). I have had a savings account since I was maybe 12, because my mom thought I should start getting used to that sort of thing (bless her for that). I just sort of try to dump money into it every once in a while for car repairs or medical expenses, but it would be a great idea to set up a regular transfer of maybe 20-30% of each paycheck for other, bigger stuff into a different savings account.

Uh, anyway. Thanks again, I hope lots of folks read this and get to thinking!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903883342308111470.post-67671057478019892682011-09-16T21:52:25.570-04:002011-09-16T21:52:25.570-04:00Wonderful post, and such a great message for twent...Wonderful post, and such a great message for twenty-somethings. My husband and I have watched our friends buy HUGE houses, with lots of "assistance" from their parents. That is not the life I want. I'm proud to be a renter and a saver.

P.S. - I was a terrible waitress, but a great nanny! ;)Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01545864967264591373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903883342308111470.post-42953420521739245612011-09-16T13:29:09.837-04:002011-09-16T13:29:09.837-04:00Great post, Emma. And saving money is important, no matter what.Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06994292714843560413noreply@blogger.com
