Rain, rain, go away...(have I used that post title yet?)

Ugh, is it me, or is Mother Nature just against us 9-5-ers? I feel like it rained all of last week, was nice over the weekend, and returned to a forecast of rain all this week. Oh, well. At least the weekend was nice, right?

I wore this two Fridays ago, but I wish I were wearing it today. Something about wearing jeans to work just makes my day so much more pleasant! But, I suppose my outfit for today—a midi skirt and flats—is a bit more appropriate for rain. No soggy hems here!

polo: Target
white long sleeve, belt and necklace: don't remember
jeans: Silver via Macy's
shoes: Target or Payless

Sorry for not knowing where half this outfit came from. My wardrobe needs some serious updating. The Financial Diet has been kind of restrictive in that department ($20 a week doesn't allow for much clothes shopping). Fortunately, I've recently bumped myself up to $30 a week. That helps a lot. As does the discovery of Volunteers of America, which I mentioned in this post. Their huge, store-wide half-off sale is tomorrow! I plan to take $10 or $15 and walk out with at least 10 new, awesome items.

Speaking of the FD, I am officially halfway to my goal of saving up $1,000! Tips haven't been quite what I was told to expect at the waitressing job. (They said people tend to make $200 on a game day. I usually just barely clear $100...and non-game shifts average around $30-$50. Ick.) But I just sold some stuff on Craigslist and made a cool $300 from that. I'm saving half of that, used a bit of it to fund a belated housewarming party slash birthday party for Matt and I and our friend who lives upstairs, and am using the rest to work on some home décor projects on my list. So there will be some fun posts on that coming up as well :)

By the way. Don't forget to email your budgeting questions, comments or whatever to verbal.melange{at}gmail{dot}com for this week's Fiscal Fridays post!

Are we there yet?

"There" referring to the end of the 30x30 challenge, that is. I've gotta be honest, I'm running out of steam a bit. If you couldn't tell, from the steady downward progression in creativity of my outfits. Oh well, this one is number 26, so I'm nearly there. I might have to take off a day for Thursday's Bloggers Do It Better challenge, since I don't have any maxi skirts in my 30 items. Or in my closet at all, for that matter. To the thrift store!

I got this necklace at the North Market Food & Ohio Wine Festival this weekend. For you non-Columbusites, the North Market is this great little collection of shops that sell awesome food and other things. There's prepared food stands serving Vietnamese, pizza, deli sandwiches, Polish food, gourmet ice cream and even Belgian waffles. Other stands sell high-quality meats, cheeses, seafood...there's even a shop that sells just about any spice you can think of! Needless to say, the foodie in my loves the North Market. At the fest on Sunday, there was an artisan market as well. Tons of jewelrymakers and other crafters were selling their wares.

I fell in love with the jewelry at Sweet Stella Designs' booth. Go on and check out her site; she has AWESOME jewelry. With any luck, you'll be seeing more of this designer on my site. Haha, this could be bad for my wallet ;)

Womp Womp

Seems to be my refrain for the past few days. Last night, Matt and I had to cancel our much-anticipated trip to New York City in August. I've seriously been looking forward to this for months, but when both your cars start having issues (and, in Matt's case, "issues" means "overheating in under three minutes of driving") and you have to put down a $700+ deposit on a house lease, dropping several hundred dollars on a trip to the Big Apple just isn't feasible. Womp #1.

Then, to add injury to insult, I got the holy mother of migraines last night. Seriously, it woke me up several times throughout the night. I barely slept at all. Thank god I had a single pill left on my prescription, or I wouldn't have made it in to work this morning. Womp #2.

Being exhausted, I put virtually no effort into this outfit. There. I admit it. If I weren't doing the 30x30 challenge, I wouldn't have blogged an outfit today at all. But, I think I salvaged it a little with the cute satin bow at the hip. No idea where this belt came from. None. Thanks, mystery belt, for saving this otherwise un-blog-worthy outfit. Womp #3.

That, my friends, is the face of exhaustion.

But, I have a non-womp tibit to share: My first giveaway! Call it the anti-womp. Have you entered yet?

Halfway there!

Yup, it's day 25 of the 30x30 challenge. I must say, I'm pretty surprised that I've made it this far without too many struggles. Of course, there are a few pieces I haven't even touched yet, so I'll have to make sure I work those in. These shoes were one of those pieces, but I got 'em today.

Just for the record: I love these shoes. I don't care that they make me nearly six feet tall (I'm 5'8" in bare feet). I say, tall girls should be able to love wedges and heels too!

necklace: DIY'ed bracelet: don't remember ribbon belt: came with a shirt I don't even have anymore

I've decided to go back to posting three shots instead of just two. It gets hard to pick just two images if you have a lot of really good ones!

Oh, and rest assured, folks: I ordered a new tripod on Amazon the other day. Should get here soon, I hope. The best part? It's a big-girl tripod. The kind that stands 50 inches tall and all that. Not the bendy Gorillapod I used to use. It was nice, but it limited my locations to places that had something for it to grip onto. When I get my new tripod, I'll be able to shoot anywhere!
