Monday morning has come all too soon for me, and it's not just because I had to wake up earlier than usual for an early training session at work this morning. Nope, the leisure of the past few weekends is drawing to a temporary close. From here until the middle of August, I will be traveling almost every weekend for at least a day, if not two, for wedding-related stuff. (My sister is getting married next month, and my best friend the month after.)
This weekend, I went back down to OU for the night to celebrate Abby's college graduation. It was a pretty nostalgic trip down, but she and I vowed to try to go to homecoming together this fall...if she can get herself up here from her new home in South Carolina.

Garage sale season is here, and I already have an awesome find to show for it! I got this blazer for two dollars. That doesn't even seem fair. It did have some ugly square pockets on it, but those came off easily with a seam ripper. Here's to hoping that I can squeeze in some time this summer at some garage sales. If this find is any indicator, it's going to be a great season!
My computer is running impossibly slow this morning, which means I'm running late (even though I shouldn't be), which means I don't have much time for chit-chat today. So my life is finally starting to resemble something close to normal again. That's good. This weekend seemed a lot longer than last, even though they were both three-day affairs. Maybe because I wasn't travelling across half the state and was actually able to get some things done. Go figure.This includes re-shooting the holiday outfits that I never took pictures of, out of forgetfulness or sheer exhaustion. You'll know the reshoots because I'm not wearing makeup and my hair is wavy in all its air-dried glory ;)

Well, I'm definitely starting to pay the toll for taking an entire weekend (and Monday, and part of Tuesday) to do fun things. I'm so behind on my freelance stuff, it would be laughable if I didn't really need the money. Good thing I get Monday off next week. Something tells me I'll have to be ultra-productive. Especially because my friend Emily is coming to town tonight! Very excited to see her, but it also means I won't be getting much work done. Ah, well. Tis the season ;)I was going to post all four of my holiday outfits (worn to six different gatherings), but I haven't had the time to even edit photos yet! Not to mention I still have to reshoot a few of the outfits first. Somehow, getting home from a one- or two-hour drive at 10 or 11 pm, after running around all dang day, isn't really conducive to good outfit shots. Go figure.

glasses: Eye Buy DirectI have a love-hate relationship with this sweater. It's pretty soft, and comfy, and easy to style. But it attracts Spazzy's white hair like the dang cat is going bald. I practically have to carry a lint roller with me when I'm wearing the sweater. And as you may or may not know, I'm generally kinda lazy sometimes, so that doesn't always happen.Oh, and do you like my new glasses? I bought them a while back when Eye Buy Direct was having their annual buy one, get one half off sale. They were SUPER affordable (I paid $40 for two pairs), but shipping took forever. When I called and asked how much longer it would take to ship them, they refunded my shipping cost and got them in the mail practically the next day. Not bad, when you think about it. Highly recommend :)(I wasn't paid or perked for content in this post. I just wanted to share my honest opinion about EBD!)
Running a bit behind this morning...two straight days of going to the gym, after not working out at all for months, is a bit exhausting. But it's been a good two days, and I really love the feeling I get after a good sesh. Taking care of yourself is actually kinda nice :)But, since I still have to make/eat breakfast and pack a lunch, I'm gonna be brief in this post. I rarely post my "going out" outfits here, since they're usually a totally different style from the business casual and casual outfits I typically post. But I do wear these outfits, and they're a part (albeit a small part) of my style, so here ya go.

If I wear these to a bar, the first thing I do when I get there is scout out for a possible seat. Oh, well. Fashion is sometimes painful, right?I actually wore this out to the bars on the night before Thanksgiving with my sister. That's why there's blue carpet under me...we were at our parents' house. Saw a few old high school friends that night, as well as some less-than-friends. Thank goodness we're all mature enough to ignore each other now, haha!
Yesterday, Kendi discussed her possibly-unnatural love for her closet; a discussion sparked by her new boots. I can honestly say I know exactly what she means.Sure, mine are $30 Target boots, while hers are a much-higher-quality Nine West pair. But you know something? I don't care. These boots are comfy and awesome and I love them. Pretty sure I'm going back to Target at some point to buy them in black, and cognac, and gray if they have them. Because they are that awesome. And for $30 or so a pop, I'll have four pairs of boots for the same price as Kendi's one. That, my friends, is what I call a win.

Remember when I mentioned Matt's and my date night at Shadowbox Live recently? Well here's that outfit :) And the bonus? I wore it to work the next day with slacks and heels instead of jeans and flats. Didn't take photos of that, but how's that for double duty? Not bad, I say.

Matt and I are at that point in our relationship—three and a half years this month, in fact—where sweatpants are just easier to wear and neither person really cares if the other is put together or not. So when we get a chance to dress up a little and get fancy, it's a nice change of pace.Speaking of half-anniversaries, this month (the beginning of this month, actually) marks the six month anniversary of this blog! I'm actually a little surprised at myself. I'm not one for long attention spans—that's an understatement, I have the attention span of a five year old. Or a goldfish. I've been feeling a little down in the dumps lately, so I thought to myself, Self, you deserve a little fun time! So I made a lunch date with the blog and Panera, because they have free WiFi and the food makes me happy.Why so blue, you ask? It's a bit silly, I suppose, when you really think about it. It's just, I was on the floor for my first night of server training at my new part-time job, and the other servers were kvetching about how abysmal the tips are sometimes (hey, it's a college campus), and it just got me down. I know I'm lucky to have enough work to support myself. I just really wish I didn't need three jobs to do it.Plus, returning to the food industry yet again feels like such a big step backward for me. I graduated from an excellent school, and I'm still struggling to get by with the job I was fortunate enough to land. Therein lies the problem with our generation: We were told that after college, the world would be our oyster. We'd have every opportunity imaginable at our very fingertips, because we'd be college educated. Maybe that was the case for our parents' generation, but from what I've seen in my life and those of my peers, it isn't the case for us. We're disillusioned, yada yada yada, I know. That doesn't make it any less of a struggle.Sorry to get so deep and depressing here, folks. I write what I'm thinking, and that is what I'm thinking about today constantly.
